These books promote diversity, inclusion, equity, fairness, and respect. All of these are necessary topics to discuss within the walls of a diverse classroom! It is so important for students to see representations of themselves and their family within literature and these books will help me do just that. Additionally, with the current societal climate we are experiencing it is so important to bring recognition to these topics with our younger generations. Attempting to ignore or avoid it contributes to the problem and ends up erasing part of our world’s culture.
