With all of the recent events that have taken place, it has opened up my eyes as an educator, that I need books easily accessible in my classroom, that represent ALL of my students. I am going into my 6th year working in a Title I School and while I always check-out books from the library that celebrate diversity, I financially haven't been able to restock my own personal CLASSROOM library with books that represent all of my students. I want students to walk up to my classroom library and see books that have characters that represent them and their friends. I want them to know that they are loved for who they are and I as their teacher, celebrate them and accept them. I want them to know that they matter.
