I want to instill a love of reading in my fifth graders. I believe that this can be done through choice and excitement. By getting them excited about all the books in my classroom, and giving them choice over what they read, I believe that I can encourage my students to love reading and become lifelong readers. Nothing improves a student's ability to read and write like reading and reading some more. By setting a goal for my students to read 40 books this school year, I am certain that I will help them be more confident as readers and therefore help all students become better readers and writers. Having access to a multitude of books at their fingertips in my classroom, will be the best resource that I could possibly provide my students.
