My students LOVE books and read-aloud time is arguably everyone's favorite part of the day. I want to add these diverse books to my classroom library to give my students exposure to the world around them. These books celebrate race, religion, gender, culture, and diversity of all humans. By giving my students access to these books, they will gain a better worldview of humankind. I hope to read these books during our read-aloud time so that we can have discussions that better their understanding and misconceptions they might have of the world around them. I also hope that these books will create a sense of advocacy for my students. In this day and age, it is so important to be kind and stand up for what is right. With these books, I hope my students internalize my "be kind" motto and ultimately become understanding individuals.
