When you think about school, you tend to think of the core subjects: reading, writing, and math. However, when I think about early education, I think about the social and emotional development that takes place and the long-term impact that it has on each child's future. That is why I place such an emphasis on relevant social and emotional learning in my classroom, and picture books are the perfect key to unlock that in each student. The project that you are helping to fund will become tools and resources for students for years to come. These books will find their perfect place in our classroom library, our mindful space, and as teaching points for whole group learning. I cannot wait to read these beautiful books with my third graders throughout the year and watch as they unlock that door that so often gets overlooked.
