My students are some of the most compassionate human beings I know. However, as children of immigrant families, they rarely see positive representations, and often witness news of injustices against people who look like them. I will use these books to create both virtual (and future in-person) lessons and activities that affirm my students' identities and empower them to be future change-makers in their communities. These books will anchor our whole-group discussions and independent reflections that examine identity, community, fairness, equality and advocacy. When it is declared safe by our district, my students will also get to bring home and read these books on their own. Thank you in advance for your support.
