In the center of our nation's civil rights turmoil and the tragedy in Minneapolis, students will have the opportunity through the novel The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas, to study how adolescents and adults can learn perseverance, love, equality, and respect in the hardest of challenges. It's not black vs. white or rich vs. poor or the police vs. bystanders but the understanding of how to inspire social change in America today and how each of us has a role and a voice in making that happen. Students will study, read, write, research, collaborate and present in a variety of mediums in order to express what justice, equality and equity means to them and our society.
