With your help and generosity, I will be able to give each student a copy of this book to read in and out of class. We will start by analyzing the three parts of the book, discussing each section, and how it not only impacts my own students but also how it affects people around the world. We will also be connecting with other students in various countries to engage in conversations about race. This book was chosen as the Global Read Aloud for 2020, which means thousands of students will be participating in activities to build a stronger world connection. Because we are unsure if we will be back in the classroom in the fall, I want to make sure all of my students will have a copy of this book. If we start or eventually move back to remote learning for any amount of time, the students will already have the book to read, and they will still be able to connect to others reading this as well. Therefore, our Global Read Aloud 2020 will be to work regardless of the location of my students. Finally, these books will be used with future students as well. Because this is a piece of informational text, the material in the book will remain timeless.
