Having a great area rug for students to come down closer to be apart of the Read Aloud. The rug will be used for students to sit comfortably with social distancing but able to learn many things during our Morning Meeting time. We sing our weekly song, read our weekly poem, and read and discuss a new book they have not heard to talk about the book. Having the children closer to the book, reminds me of having "lap time" with my family. I have a strong believer that children time to listen, discuss, and think about the whos, the whys, the hows, etc. Many students are able to make connections with the book and this allows them an idea for their writing. Students need to hear fluent reading every day to help them become a fluent reader. A fluent reader will help them become a reader that is comprehending what they are reading. Listening to great stories also helps students have ideas about topics for them to write about. We know that reading and writing go hand-n-hand. The better reader you are the better writer you are and vice versa. Thank you for helping make our Morning Meeting time more comfortable which will improve their learning.
