With so much chaos that has happened within our school system during the last school year, small group instruction is going to be a key factor in making sure that students are not only able to get caught up from material that was missed while out for COVID-19, but get on track for the current school year. The kidney table I have chosen will be ideal for working with small groups and being able to reach multiple students. Along with the kidney table, students will have the opportunity to sit in wobble stools while working in small groups. Using wobble stools instead of traditional classroom chairs will benefit students who need more movement in order to stay focused. Currently, my students are participating in small groups with a small table that does not allow students to spread out and collaborate. They sit in traditional chairs that students tend to dangerously lean back in or fidget. A new small group table with wobble stools would allow students to further collaborate with their peers while staying more focused with seating that allows them to move accordingly. Last school year was so unpredictable for students, it is expected to be a difficult year for many. Using a new small group table would not only allow me to work more closely with my students to identify their specific learning needs, but will allow my students to work together more effectively.
