If history was taught in the form of stories, it would never be forgotten. - Rudyard Kipling My goal is to engage my 8th-grade students in meaningful novel studies that represent historical events, and how those events have shaped our world today. I truly believe that history tells us what people do; historical fiction helps us imagine how they felt. I feel teaching empathy is so important in our society. My job as an ELA teacher is not only to teach reading, writing, and grammar but how to be a good human being. Novel studies help me do that.
