My students are scholars in grades 3 and 4 who receive resource room support to help them reach academic and socio-emotional goals. Our room is organized with the idea of being as friendly and welcoming as possible, with seating options like beanbags and wobble stools, light filters over the fluorescent lights and lamps with soft light bulbs, and tons and tons of visual, aural, socio-emotional, and sensory supports. In order to help my scholars regulate their sensory needs, I would like to provide a bucket full of sensory 'fidget' items for students to choose from. Students will be able to choose a squeeze ball, a crinkly fabric square, a pop-it, or one of several other styles of fidgets. The fidgets I have chosen will represent a wide variety of needs: fidgets that are quiet and those that make noise, fidgets with a variety of colors and materials, and fidgets that provide a variety of textures.
