My class is composed of a wonderful mixture of 5-year old boys and girls that are always eager to start the year in a new school with a brand new teacher. My classroom provides opportunities for these children to listen, speak, read and write in a social-emotional safe environment. A big part of our instructional day is spent developing those social skills by giving children the opportunity to work in small groups that focus on a specific learning area. We call these Literacy and Math centers. In order for these centers to work there needs to be a variety of writing and drawing tools that allow students to complete their tasks. The most exciting part of our day is Science/STEM time where we share the last 45 minutes of the day with the Dual Language Class. This is when we work in groups of four to solve a week-long STEM challenge that encourages investigation and innovation. There is nothing as exciting as seeing a group of five-year-olds share a thundering cheer when their prototype finally works!! Your support in providing these materials will be vital in fostering these wonderful discoveries. Thanks in advance.
