I need to spend some time curating my classroom library and purchasing reading lessons that are standards based and reflect the diverse student body that I teach. Making time to read aloud to students and for children to practice reading independently is of daily importance. Growing a classroom library with diverse authors/characters is essential for my students. They need to find role models and see themselves represented. They must draw close to books and feel included. Together, we can increase the odds that children will develop a life long love of reading for pleasure!
