The goal of this project is to provide some of the safeguards that will be used in our daily school day to ensure that our students can return to school is the safest environment possible. Due to the statewide 10% educational budget cuts, we have no way to hire employees to manage all COVID-19 details. It is my hope to be able to install Purell hand sanitizer dispensers in each classroom (9 classrooms) and common areas (the office, gym, cafeteria, etc.). Easy and visible access to hand sanitizer will be the first line of defense with minimal mess. As most of our families are low income I have also placed re-usable masks on my project list. The state and district is requiring ALL students to wear masks to school. In the event of a student coming to school (or the bus) without a mask, the standard will be to send the student home. If we have spare masks on hand, more students would be able to remain on campus. Additionally, for students who misplace their masks or drop them on the ground, spares would be available as needed. As most of our students, except two self-contained classes, rotate through six periods each day, keeping surfaces clean will be of utmost importance. Bleach wipes and disinfectant will be in daily use as they plan for the upcoming school year will be for students to clean their desk surfaces before they leave each period to ready the room for the incoming class. Last on the list is Kleenex. With the other items, the hope is that few students will come to school with runny noses, however, having Kleenex on hand will prove helpful.
