I have been an educator for 13 years. After researching and adding stability balls to my classroom a few years ago, I noticed how much easier it was to keep kids focused on their reading and writing assignments. Students often struggle to stay focused on things that are not hands-on or exciting, and let's be real- there are some things that are just not that fun no matter what the teacher does. Flexible seating also brings joy to the students. Students light up in when they walk into the classroom for the first time and find out that they will have the freedom to bounce while learning. All the kids wanted to be in my class! Ha! Flexible seating gives students the freedom to rock, bounce, or wobble in class. Flexible seating allows teachers to create an inviting learning environment that also helps students stay focused! I am hoping to create a comfortable, and inviting classroom that also provides varied seating options for student individual needs. I think that after ending the 2019-2020 school year at home due to COVID-19 that students deserve this more than ever! Don't you?
