This project will allow each of my students to have a composition notebook in class without the hassle of having to go out and purchase one. A simple notebook to many might not seem like a huge burden to request from students and parents in the beginning of the school year, but to some it is asking for a lot. I want my students to not have to worry about asking for supplies. As soon as they enter my classroom, I want them to know that I want and will give them all the tools to be successful in and outside of my classroom.
My objective is to give my students every opportunity to explore mathematics and discover the conceptual, representational, and abstract meaning behind the math used in the real world. An important part of student understanding is taught by teaching effective note taking skills. Skilled note taking enhances academic success. Through the use of composition notebooks, students will be able to actively engage in learning by writing down what they hear or interpret to aid in knowledge growth and retention. Note taking also serves as one of the best study aids.
Providing my students with notebooks will be the first step towards promoting organization and giving them the tools to be successful!
