The manipulatives I am requesting for my kids will help deepen their learning in the foundation blocks of both math and reading. The place value blocks and linking cubes will help students be able to visualize numbers to properly add and subtract. The snap addition will help the students understand how addition works so they can see it in two different colors. The abacus will help students be able to count and keep track of the numbers as they count. The magnetic letters will allow students to be able to build words. The vowels are in red so students will easily recognize if there is a 'talking vowel' in each word. With these manipulatives each of my students will be able to physically touch numbers and words as they build them which will help deepen their understanding of the skills they will use for the rest of their lives. Adding, subtracting, spelling, reading are the skills that these manipulatives will assist with. In second grade it is vital that they have these skills and can not only use the skills on paper but apply them in real life as well. Your donation will help my students learn and understand what they are doing.
