In 1st Grade, we learn about reading and the important skills that are encompassed within reading. Children begin putting together skills of reading fluently, reading accurately, and comprehension to build on their abilities. These specific skills help children grow from learning to read to reading to learn. 1st Grade is a critical year that helps set the foundation for a love of reading and positive learning experiences. COVID-19 minimized the opportunities that the children would normally have to engage in activities with chapter books. Physically getting chapter books into the hands of our children could help them feel confident in transitioning to 2nd Grade where they will be utilizing chapter books on a regular basis. Thank-you for your time and consideration in supporting our children getting chapter books to read at home!
