During our study of weather, these handheld weather stations will get the students actively engaged in investigating weather data. Students will go outside to gather data like wind speed and direction, humidity, barometric pressure, wind chill, dew point, temperature, and altitude. Using a handheld weather station will allow students to investigate weather trends in their hometown. They will use these discovered trends and patterns to accurately predict the weather. They can then compare their predictions to an actual meteorologist's predictions and to the actual weather occurring. Having these handheld weather stations will allow students to explore the career of a meteorologist.
