As a teacher transitioning to middle school, I have seen the benefit first-hand of flexible seating in a classroom. As a teacher who maximizes student learning using the classroom culture, these flexible seats encourage students to move and shake with their peers, which normal desks often make difficult. Therefore, with your help, I am ensuring that my students will be given the opportunity to focus and process information in a new way, and some will find this sensory experience beneficial in their increase in attentiveness. Middle schoolers are often negated in the conversation about flexible seating, but I am aiming to change that and provide students with agency in their learning. We are so hopeful to gain these resources moving into next year!
