In an art class, students need every bit of focus and creativity to make the best art possible. If this project was funded, students would be able to have the flexible seating needed to increase this focus and creativity. Flexible seating allows students to move, wiggle, and bounce at their own time without interrupting class. This movement increases oxygen flow to the brain allowing students to stay more alert and ready to learn. Another reason for flexible seating is to benefit the sensory needs of students with ADHD, ADD, and ASD. I have seen firsthand how fidget chair bands have helped students with these disorders as they are able to mindlessly move their feet and keep concentration at the same time. I hope to allow more opportunities for movement through the use of flexible seating.
