This time of year we are traditionally completing a project on Life Cycles. This terrarium project will allow students to experience plant cycle. In the past we have hatched chickens and butterfly eggs, or sprouted seeds in the classroom then creating terrariums from soda bottles. In this project, students will be growing plants from seeds in the terrarium. The students enjoy learning online but miss experiencing science in person. Most families do not have gardens and have limited outdoor space to grow plants. Another concern when selecting a project is the safety concerns for every member of the family. Many of the students have younger siblings who are naturally curious about their bigger siblings activities. For this reason a sealed project makes sense. Making slim or building volcanoes is great but a parent may not agree and this terrarium project allows the students to engage without creating challenges for other members of the family.
