The staff here is trying to help prepare our students for the world that lays ahead. These items will continue to help our students with self regulation and coping skills which is utilized by all students at our school. The area is designed to help a child's fragile and still-developing brain that is less suited to handling stress and negative emotions, such as fear, anger, sadness or sorrow, particularly over longer periods of time. We also use this area for a flexible area for testing and tutoring. The metal stools allows students to move around the room. The soother and weighted puppy helps a student to use the sounds to calm down from many situations. The dominos would be added with the other items to help with self regulation. The sensory balls and tactile pillows will help with our sensory students.
