My students come to school full of life and ready to learn! Just like adults get tired of sitting in hard chairs all day, students do too! They need more flexible/comfortable seating options to enhance student engagement and learning. Studies show that students learn better when they are physically active and comfortable. Students are able to bounce on an exercise ball, sit, stand, kneel, etc. My students are self-motivated and always up for any academic challenge, especially when they are able to be active learners. When teaching whole group, a large white board easel is helpful to create anchor charts. Students are able to come and interact as a group. We use the white board during centers, as a fun way to work-not with pen and paper. I want to support and foster their love of learning by incorporating some flexible seating options into our classroom. This different seating option will allow my students to have additional choices for seating while working in small group or on computers. This project would significantly help my students stay engaged in our learning throughout the day. I want them to feel comfortable and at home in our classroom. I cannot wait to see all of the things we can do with flexible seating!
