The whiteboard is a highly used resource in the classroom. However, majority of our classrooms currently have chalkboards, partially functional whiteboards, and cheap shower-tile that are all difficult to fully clean. Many students have complained about the chalk dust and the gritty feeling of chalk. Others have complained about having difficulties seeing what is written on the board due to poor board quality. Students consistently request a seat change or to sit on the floor to fully see everything being written especially if the board is small. By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve student attention, focus, and student engagement, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. The whiteboard allows the teacher and students to see exactly what a student is doing, as well as provide an easy place for them to show and share their work. Our school promotes an equitable learning experience in each classroom. Some students remain in the same room and others move from room-to-room. With more than 50 teachers on our staff, it is difficult to fund our project alone as we hope to purchase a board for each classroom with the poorest boards. Fortunately, our county is purchasing interactive projectors, but we have to provide the whiteboards to go with them. In this technology literate world, any interaction with updated technology will increase their literacy as well as their desire to learn and use the new technology!
