We use whiteboards nearly every day, particularly in math. Students have the chance to use them during guided practice and in centers. In using the whiteboards, I am able to walk around the room and see what students need more support or guidance with. We have used our current set and markers so much, that we no longer have enough for each student and they would really benefit from a new set. In Social Studies, we do a lot of current event studies and discussions, in order for the students to become culturally aware and in order to help the become active and responsible participants in society. Our subscription to Scholastic News will provide us with the chance to learn about and analyze current events and will help the students become advocates for the challenges our world is facing today. This subscription also is a great literary tool that allows the students to explore non-fiction, first hand accounts. By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement and positive involvement in society.
