We would like to begin the school year with doing a novel study. The novel we would like to read is 'The One and Only Ivan.' We would be working on the novel study for 4 weeks at the beginning of the school year and await the release of the movie. Students will then compare the novel across media. My students will enjoy reading the novel while teaching the Texas Essential knowlegde and Skills (TEKS) needed to be successful in assessments and promoted to the next grade level. My students will have the opportunity to experience novels from diverse authors.
