As you know, young children can't sit still for a long time. In my classroom we like to move from our tables to carpet and flexible seating in the classroom. This helps keep the students engaged as well as comfortable during the school day. Cold, concrete floors are not easy to sit on for a lesson. With a nice warm rug, this will allow students to be more comfortable as we learn. A lot of our learning is done on our Promethean Board in the front of the classroom. The board is very iterative and students need to be close as they are always participating on the board. Every child is different and some just cannot sit still. But that's ok. With the wobbly chairs it allows these students to get a few wiggles out but still be engaged in your lesson.
