Listening to stories is a great way for students to hear the ebb and flow that happens when you are reading a book aloud. It also allows students to hear a variety of people read books and how just listening to a story by a good reader can pull you in. My students are just beginning to really enjoy books and learning how to read fluently, they also love listening to stories. As a teacher of students who speak more than one language I would love to get books in other languages so they can hear them in the other languages they speak.
