Sensory play can allow students to receive the input they need while providing functional language fun! Every student has unique needs, so having different options can help in meeting each need. This will also provide many different opportunities for functional communication. Many of these toys like balls and poppers help in keeping hands busy to help in focusing during speech and language activities. Having items for sensory bins, sensory bottles, and playdough can also create opportunities for communication for many of my students. I hope to provide a safe and happy space for my kids this upcoming year and these items will be a great start!
