Support Ms. Kelsey's classroom with a gift that fosters learning.
Our students benefit from visual communication supports and have made significant progress in communicating using the visual aids available to them in our classroom. We use visual schedules to help them navigate through their day and feel comfortable with the classroom routine, and we use picture communication systems to model language for them and help them be able to express their wants and needs.
However, since the transition to distance learning, our students have not had access to these supports. Many parents cannot print and/or laminate visuals for use at home, and our students have difficulty attending to instructional materials on a screen.
With the materials from this project, I will recreate the visuals we use every day in our classroom, including visual schedules, core vocabulary boards, and communication folders, and mail them out to all our families so that our students can continue to learn and strengthen their communication skills at home.
