Across the country high school choirs rehearse on a regular basis. Senior High choirs rehearse for 50 minutes each day, which provides singers time to develop vocal and musician skills. It does not, however, provide enough time for a choir to grow into a trusting loving family. That is the goal of a choir retreat. Can Varsity Singers at Senior High grow into a trusting, committed, and loving family with each other.
September 2019 was the first Choir Retreat at Senior High and it went exactly how the planning committee wanted it to go. Here are some words from students when asked to write a letter about their experience.
" It reminded us that music is about more than just the notes and pitches on a page. Instead, music is the best way to convey feelings and emotions, along with being able to connect with yourself and those around you."
"I found myself enjoying the retreat and all the experiences that came with it. I truly believe that every choir student should experience this life changing event."
Retreat is a chance to rehearse, share meals, have fun, but most importantly find the commonality between people from all walks of life.
