A document camera would allow for more accessibility, visibility anywhere in the classroom, and provide tactile learning experiences. The camera would allow for easier read alongs with whole class novels, whole class assignments, and handouts could be easily displayed and viewed by the whole class. It would also allow for easier creation of video lessons. This camera would serve multiple students, multiple purposes, and is multi-functional. The population I work with include students with learning deficits, social/ emotional deficits, behavioral deficits, in addition to obstacles such as ADHD, autism, and sensory sensitivities. Tools such as the fidget bands are specifically designed to allow active students to move and be busy while also learning without being a distraction to classmates. Being able to "fidget" increases focus and attention in students with ADHD. The bases for the exercise ball serve a similar purpose. This type of seating allows students to bounce, lean, twist, wobble, and adjust to best meet their needs. The addition of a futon and lamp would be a welcomed option for flexible seating in a cozy reading area. Flexible seating is comfortable and inviting. Comfortable students are calm, focused, and productive. A cozy reading area is a calm, welcoming environment (i.e. the lamp for warm lighting verses the harsh fluorescent lights of the classroom) that elevates student engagement. It also helps students feel relaxed and allows for increase productivity.
