Hello Friends, I’m a new 1st-grade bilingual teacher. When I was a child, I saw my mother how come with just a few resources, she made miracles in her classroom. I remember her asking the ice cream vendor, how many Popsicle sticks he had collected for her during the day, because she used those sticks to teach her students basic math operations. She was a very skillful and very creative teacher. I learned from her to be persistent and to follow my dreams. I always wanted to be like her. Now, I'm close to achieving that dream. I chose to be a bilingual teacher because I am really convinced that the Hispanic community will be part of the success of our country. My dream is to be able to see one day to my students as leaders of our government, being good citizens and a good example for their community. For that reason, as a new teacher, I am starting to gather resources to prepare my classroom. I believe my students deserve equal opportunities for education and resources that any regular student in our country. Thank you very much for helping me. I promise I will always do my best to make a difference in my students’ lives, letting them fly and letting them dream. I really want to be a good teacher, like my mother was. I believe one day I will have the chance to see more than one of my students making their own history because they will not be like me, they will be much better, and I will be part of their success.
