When it comes to educating today's youth, there is no time to waste. My hope is to create a safe and calm learning environment for students, that is filled with all the tools and materials they need to achieve academic success. The primary focus of our classroom is literacy. It is my intention to have a classroom that is print rich and kid-friendly. Research tells us that a child’s vocabulary and reading skills are linked to their economic background. By age 3, there is a 30-million-word gap between children in underserved communities, and their wealthier same age peers. When my students reach the classroom, we seek to lessen this gap, if not close it completely. I ask that you help support our mission by donating today, so that my students can have an appropriate classroom library which is filled with a variety of books in different genres for independent reading and sharing.
