Coming back to school after a pandemic is something that is going to be hard for everyone, especially those whole need routine and structure. At the moment my classroom does not even have a carpet. I want my students to come back to a classroom they love, feel comfortable in, and a place that is their own during whole group time. My kiddos struggle with personal boundaries and and attending skills on a daily basis. Having a safe, comfortable space for them with visual barriers would help them work on attending skills such as sitting calmly with hands down. Having this carpet will allow them to have their own space while also learning to participate in a whole group setting. The kids in my classroom thrive in a structured setting and right now we do not have something that is structured enough for them to be successful in learning the attending skills they need to be successful in a whole group carpet time.
