To Kill a Mockingbird is amazing story about childhood innocence being influenced by society. By having the students read a graphic novel they are given a chance to view a text in a new and eye catching way. This way of reading brings together all types of readers. SEEING the actions of characters help students relate and observe different ways to explain ideas. When observing drawings and words students can FEEL what the protagonist is experiencing. Art and text combined raises certain QUESTIONS students otherwise might have missed. Finally, after seeing, feeling, and questioning the authors work, students can INFER the theme of the novel.
