Most of the students in my class have access to some type of technology to continue their learning, distance learning, at home. While the students seem to be doing ok, I have noticed they do not seem to be performing as well in Reading as they were before this unexpected school closure. I think part of the problem is that the students had access to headphones at school to listen to fluent reading during Independent Reading time on the computer/iPad. At home, the majority of my students do not have access to headphones. These earbuds will give students (especially ESL students) in our class the privacy needed to listen to stories/books without interruption from surrounding noises. This will help improve student comprehension and student reading levels.
