Studies have shown that when you read books in print, you absorb more information than when reading digital material. While we are all so excited to embark on this journey of virtual learning, I want students to not be deprived the experience of actually reading our class novels, Esperanza Rising and Love That Dog. Students will use Esperanza Rising to learn about how they can advocate for human rights. Love That Dog will show students the heart behind poetry and why poets write. Everyday students will get a mix of digital learning and discussions and reading their actual books to create a virtual monologue to showcase the violations of human rights.
