Since my students are active, I find it is hard for them to stay seated somewhere in the room. This challenge for them often leads them to getting up out of their seats which ultimately causes a distraction to others. Without the distraction of their unseated peers, I believe students will be better able to complete school tasks. I believe that even though they are moving, students will be able to stay focused on tasks they are given. With the help of flexible seating, students can fulfill the urge to move around while focusing on school work. With my current classroom seating, students cannot focus or control these urges. The wobble stools allow students to wobble around while reading or doing work. The balance cushions will allow students to rock back and forth while completing independent work or listening during whole group instruction. Lastly, the balance balls will allow students to lightly bounce during work time. All of these seating options allow students to sit at a location while also giving them the option to move while completing their work. Movement is an essential part of a young child's development, both physically and academically.
