These books will be used to give my students the representation in our classroom literature that they deserve, as well as inform and allow us to have discussions about our differences, and how they can be celebrated. Too often, stories only follow or represent one singular perspective. I am seeking to provide my students with the opportunity to read and discuss differing opinions, ideas, races, etc. in a positive and constructive manner. There are also books that will give my students a basis of what it means to be kind to EVERYONE. We will also have many discussions related to kindness when reading these books. I believe many of these books and the conversations that will come as a result are bound to create a more positive classroom environment, but also more empowered and informed students.
