To offer my students books that are rich, beautiful, and engaging is the foundation they need to become avid life long readers. They will explore text to life connections, illustration to text connections, and create meaning regarding the story and its lessons. Well written picture books can enhance cultural understanding, emotional learning, and provide pleasure through vocabulary rich literature. Students will hear me read the stories multiple times while sitting at my feet in a circle. We will revisit the story as we check our comprehension and our understanding of the vocabulary and message of the story.
