As students become better readers, they learn more about the world and people around them. My goal is for my students to LOVE reading, and to develop EMPATHY toward others. Books help create windows through which students can understand and empathize with those different from them. In order to fall in love with reading, students must have access to engaging, relevant, high-quality literature. I have chosen books that will engage my students and will help them to love literature and learning. These books will be placed in our classroom library for students to choose to read during independent reading times, as well as whole group read alouds.
