The favorite part of the day for most of my students is the reading block in which we share enriching discussions about our read out loud story. I love reading and strive to instill that love for reading in all of my students. The goal for all first graders is to be independent readers by the end of the school year. It is critical that students develop a love for reading in order to succeed. My project will help students listen to engaging read out loud books from home and inspire our virtual reading discussions. In addition, I have included a set of workbooks for each individual student to practice from home. These workbooks will give students access to and maintain a “morning work” routine at home and/or serve as supplemental and enriching learning materials.
