My students look forward to me coming to their classrooms. They love when I bring new stories for them to hear. We learn a variety of different things but something I try to emphasize is how to work through and understand strong emotions. Building their understanding now will create a stronger foundation for their future. My students experience anxiety, grief, and low self-esteem and they are only ages 5-8. Imagine not understanding these experiences. By reading a book about a character that experiences something similar helps my students understand these tough emotions and grow from them.
