The purpose of shared writing mini-lesson is to demonstrate the writing process where I hold the marker and the students share their ideas to help compose the text together. Shared writing is also used to model spelling. This experience gives students tools and strategies they need to approximate spellings of words that are most meaningful for them. Having an easel front-and-center will enable ALL students to participate in and create our shared writing together! After the lessons, the stories will remain on the easel to serve as models for students when they create their own stories. In the end, each student will be able to say, "I'm a great writing".
