Many of my students struggle with their emotions and lack an effective means of communicating what they are feeling, which is a huge roadblock to getting help for what they are dealing with. My goal is to create and furnish a "chill out zone" with books on emotions and how to healthily express and manage them where my students can go to cool down when they are feeling overwhelmed. Using the "A Little SPOT" book sets, I will start a small library focused on mental health and emotional wellbeing for my students in our chill-out zone. The goal is to give my students the resources to better express themselves and learn more about their emotions and eventually other community-building skills like safety, responsibility, and kindness.
