This grant would provide math supplies that will be utilized throughout the entire fifth grade year. Many of the math concepts presented during the fifth grade year are very difficult skills to grasp without the aid of manipulatives. These materials will provide important hands-on learning that will encourage a deeper understanding of concepts such as multiplication, division, and solving fractions. As a first year teacher, the resources that I can provide for my students is limited. Our school district supports a rural community and the resources for my students are very limited. My fifth graders need the interaction with the materials to deepen their understanding and learning of key math concepts and ideas.
