These books will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create. This year we adopted a new curriculum for Language Arts that gets kids learning with rich texts that help them build their knowledge base while learning and practicing Language Arts skills. However, we were unable to order enough books for all of my students to have their own. It's important to my students' learning to have access to a book for every student, especially if learning from home becomes a reality for some or all of my students. By not having to share books between classes, students will be able to take their book home if needed, read at their own pace and monitor their learning and thinking. Also, if learning from home occurs, their Language Arts education won't suffer because they don't have access to curriculum materials.
